In our personal quest for the right to have freedom of speech and opinion, we often fail to acknowledge other individuals’ privacy. Ironically, we even fail to acknowledge them merely as human beings.
We, human beings, can make mistakes, feel vulnerable and can be terribly affected by the harsh judgments that we formulate simply by observing what is apparent on the outer surface. Sadly, we also overlook the struggles, grief, and anguish endured by those individuals. Especially, when they are celebrities, we don’t give them any margin of human errors either.
Muniba Mazari is also just another victim of our biased judgments and opinions. She is all over the internet these days for all the bad reasons. If you are not aware of it already, keep reading!
Who is Muniba Mazari?
Muniba Mazari aka ‘The Iron-Lady’, who also serves as a goodwill ambassador in the UN along with being an inspiring mother and artist, became a paraplegic as a result of a car accident in 2007. Wheelchair-bound Muniba has been a voice for all disabled Pakistanis as well. She has been greatly acclaimed for her efforts previously until recently when her ex-husband filed a case against her in the court.
Muniba Mazari sued by ex-husband for Rs10m
The Husband Controversy
Muniba Mazri’s husband [EX} khurram Shahzad, a retired officer from Pakistan air force, sued her recently on the grounds that she has defamed him publicly. He has demanded Rs. 10 million as a compensation for the mental agony Muniba caused him.
Her husband khurram Shahzad claims that she distorted the facts of their relationship after their separation and painted him as someone who did all this intentionally or saved himself intentionally and ran out on her. He particularly mentioned a TedTalk Mazari gave in 2015 where she said that “Six and a half years back I met a car accident. I was traveling from Quetta to my hometown in Rahim Yar Khan. The ‘driver’ slept and the car fell into a ditch.”
Her husband also claimed that it was muniba who was sleeping at that time,
In another show, referred to in the petition, Mazari said Shahzad had managed to jump out of the car and saved himself.
“The words ‘He managed to jump out and saved himself’ Which kind off seems impossible looking at the condition of their car..
Mazari’s husbands Friend had something to say about him
I have the honor of knowing Khurram shahzad (the husband of Muniba mazari) personally, for the last 25 years. I happens to know the first hand knowledge of most of this whole episode from the time he met this lady for the first time, to their love marriage (It was actually love marriage, and not the forced one), visiting whole of Pakistan with his ‘now cruel’ husband and till the time she got divorce from him. I have few things to share for readers, before they make some emotional comments on the Page.
The biggest mistake of his life was to love a lady, which didn,t deserve it, a least bit of it. After the accident (which was a pure human mistake, and the result of what normally happens on the roads of Pakistan), Khurram shahzad has no other interest in his life except looking after his wife. He left fighter flying (which is considered to be one of the dreamed professions in the world) and opted for slow flying to concentrate more on his handicapped wife. He left all his friends, his acquaintances to make her life meaningful, and easy. He provided and managed accommodation / education for her two brothers, her mother for several years, just to make her happy. Throughout these long years, he supported her in doing different hobbies and follow her ambitions like painting, singing etc. She couldn’t have continued with these things and prospered, if he was not supportive. He only stopped her, once her desire for being famous crossed the general limits of decency, our society normally approve of. Once she started staying late at nights for parties, singing(with no regard to all the sacrifices his husband is putting for her), then only he was forced to stop her from these activities, which every husband has right to do. Even then, it was not he, who threw her out of his house (although he should have done it quite earlier), rather she moved herself to other residence, in order to carry on with her activities freely.
The so called brother of her, who is now saying bad things about Khurram, was the one who never stopped praising Khurram, once he was residing in his house, taking all the benefits, PAF was providing him and his mother for the sake of Muniba Mazari. (Forces have the tradition of going out of their way, to support their personnel, in these peculiar circumstances, and PAF did exactly that. Details of which are not required to be narrated here, but she had the best medical and domestic facilities, Pakistan can offer to anybody inside the country)
Since her divorce which she took herself, she is playing the victim card, blaming everything on his husband, who wasted his almost 8-9 years on this thankless lady, while forgetting, that everything, she has now, was supported by his husband, and no body else. He remained with him all along.
I actually feel sorry for that lady, who did a very cheap deal to prefer fame over a loving, loyal and dedicated husband.
If somebody, has some bleak notion of she, being the victim should contact me on my e-mail, or reply to this message, and i ll further clarify. People at large, and media need to understand, that people like Muniba mazari are nothing but fake ideals, looking for cheap popularity, which is easy to find in our country, if you are a woman, can speak English and can play some sort of victim card.
The Social Media Outrage
It took only a few moments for this issue to go viral. Apart from gathering support from her followers, she also received a backlash criticizing her on the basis that she has distorted and fabricated her story to gain sympathy and earn money. Moreover, people further went on to hurl abuses at her, and labeled her as someone who has progressed forward just on the basis of her ‘pretty face’. An old video has been going viral on different social sites, showing that Muniba is a liar and hypocrite. Have a look.
After receiving a lot of hate and criticism from her beloved followers, finally she spoke about it.
Muniba Mazari accused of plagiarizing another artist’s work
This Husband dispute hadn’t settled down until one more issue against Muniba surfaced. A young artist, Laraib Baig, posted one of her artwork, accusing Muniba of plagiarizing her painting. She further advocated her opposers, labeling her a ‘fraud’ and ‘liar’.
Laiba says she didn’t take any legal action against Muniba Mazari she was going through a lot of trauma and laiba didn’t wanted to take that away the one thing she could do, i.e Painting. I am not coming up with anything it’s just I saw the news so thought to share how legit she is in other matters too apart from husband !!
She showcased this piece of art on 17 September 2013, and Muniba displayed her painting in 2016. Here’s the comparison between the two images.
However, Muniba is still silent about it.
Who’s to blame?
It’s very easy for us to sit back, scroll through social media, formulate judgments and list them down from behind our screens. I am not endorsing who is right or who is wrong here. I am just requesting you all to step in her shoes. It’s very easy to say, ‘Oh, so what if she lost both her limbs? Or ‘She could just be faking all this time to gain sympathies’. But wait…
What if you, me or someone you love had faced a similar trauma? Imagine if people said the same thing about you? Most importantly, how would you feel if an outsider comes and criticizes you on your married or personal life without having zero knowledge about it? Depressed? Sad? Hurt? Consider Muniba a human being too, just like you and me. Think!
